Open Innovation – is it right for you?

Posted on: July 31, 2009

Is your company ready for Open Innovation? Since the term was promoted by Henry Chesbrough in 2003, it’s become the sexiest topic in Research and Development – but apparently it’s not for everyone!

Dr. Gene Slowinski and Dr. Matt Sagal of the Alliance Management Group (AMG), liken open innovation alliances to marriages, and there are understandings and ground rules to be agreed before you embark on a relationship that could end in tears (or innovation bliss!).  Michael Dalton’s enjoyable article for Innovation Tools highlights the benefits and the pitfalls of open innovation  and recommends some mutual soual searching before jumping into bed with a new partner.

Are you already involved in open innovation? What is your experience? What would support you to get started? Please leave me a comment or send me an email.
